King's River Worship Center needed to transform an old drug store into a modern church type facility suitable for worship, child care and Sunday School type activities to accommodate a congregation of some 150 people. David Mitchell acted as Project Manager for us on this project. To meet our time schedule this work had to be accomplished within a very short time frame.

There were many extra demands places on this project because we changed the occupancy use of the building. These demands required that we obtain multiple permits, develop architectural plans, update the building to current codes and regulations of city zoning laws, while satisfying the needs of the city building inspector and the state fire marshall.

In this project there were many concealed conditions, asbestos, inadequate plumbing and code deficient wiring, which could not be anticipated and could only be addressed once they were exposed during the demolition stage. Since this is leased space, and all improvement costs were to be borne by us, it was critical to our needs to keep the upgrade costs to a minimum while attempting to maximize the use and visual appearance of the facility. To help reduce construction job costs we also asked the contractor to allow us the opportunity to break out some of the work tasks so that we could accomplish those with volunteer help.

I am reasonably sure that this project would be considered a nightmare type project for most contractors. I am pleased to report that Mitch, as Project Manager, took the project on with enthusiasm, was extremely proactive in working through the maze of permits, inspections and code requirements, did an excellent job of cost containment on all scope changes and coordinated well with those volunteers and outside services engaged by us.

It is unusual in this day and age to find a contractor who truly becomes a part of your team and who looks out for your interests as much as they do for their own interests. In our opinion, Mitch and his team is one such contractor. We do not hesitate to recommend them for this type of work and would not hesitate to use them again for similar type work. We only hope that we were as much of a blessing to them as they were to us.

I have been continually impressed with your professionalism, from initial contact to follow up after the project. Bringing in each of the subcontractors from the beginning gave me the utmost confidence that your pricing would be on target, as well as getting a feel for the people you would have on-site during the project. My confidence was boosted by the other projects you have worked on. Your patience and understanding along the way meant that there was no hard-sell, and yet your professional persistence demonstrated your sincere interest in doing business with us, as well as the excellent communication skills that are required for a job like ours. Happily, that communication is continued.

I also appreciated the flexibility your team demonstrated throughout the renovation process, staying in touch with questions that arose, and including us in the decision-making as situations where encountered. Because of your daily routine, and not being afraid to take the time to educate me along the way, the entire project went smoothly, even when we encountered unexpected issues. your flexibility in allowing us to designate preferred suppliers and subcontractors meant that I was able to involve our people more deeply while still having the quality control that you bring to the table. And the end, all of this came together for significant savings on a first-class project.

Now that we've completed the renovation, our kitchen is the talk of the town and our people enjoy using it. Your knowledge helped to educate me, your diligence enabled us to come in under budget with more improvements than we had anticipated, and your follow through after the job assures me that there will be no problem that we can't handle together. It is good having a contractor on your side who genuinely attempts to understand your needs and guide you through the construction maze.
